APARD has chosen Cheeded Gram Panchayat in Rangareddi District for Piloting the KEYCAP initiative keeping in view of its, physiographic location, size, effectiveness of the local leadership etc.,. Cheeded Grampanchayat is basically characterized by an agrarian  economy with a population of 939 as per 2001 census. Majority of the population belongs to Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes. Of the 1250 Ac total land 700 Ac is being cultivated under rain fed agriculture and 200 Ac is cultivated under open wells. Around 250 Ac land in the village limits falls under forest area and is interspersed by small hillocks. Paddy, Jowar, Castor, Red Gram are the main crops grown in the village. Ground water is fluoride affected.

  • In order to cover the 235 families living in 8 wards of the village, a total number of 50 Bharat Nirman Volunteers were identified with the help of Gram Panchayat.
  • Extensive mass awareness campaigns were taken up in this village to churn social mobilization among the community. As result the Gram Panchayat, BNVs and Opinion makers in the village have identified certain critical problems like sanitation, health, street lights, agriculture, consumption of liquor, drinking water etc which are daunting the village and decided to overcome these problems through a collective effort. Then, they have constituted several committees namely Sanitation Committee, Liquor Prohibition Committee, Health and Nutrition Committee, Animal Husbandry Committee, Forest Conservation Committee, Employees Committee with the active members among the community.
  • The various committees in Cheeded have sorted ourtmany problems daunting the village and the following are the achievements
    • Prohibition of sale of liquor
    • Deepening and restoration of open wells under MGNREGS,
    • Construction 135 of ISLs under TSC
    • Finding a suitable site for burial ground and play ground
    • Adoption of NPM agriculture
